Books and Brewskies

Who doesn’t love an awesome, locally made beer? Hmm?

And, who doesn’t love cuddling up with a good book after a long day?

I figured, why not put the two together: brilliant books paired with bang-up beer.   Continue reading Books and Brewskies

The Cunning Crow Newspaper

Posted on

It’s finally here!

The writing/art project I have been working on for months now!

The Cunning Crow: Your best source of local, multiverse, and planetary news in Central British Columbia.

The Cunning Crow is a fantasy fan-fic creation, reporting on fantastical news from a city hidden just outside Kamloops, BC, called Umbra.

Included is a helpful guide Explanations to Help Understand the World (last page of publication), and citations/sources are HERE

I really hope you enjoy the world I have created! I aim to create a few of these papers, but it will take a while between each issue as I am still learning to write better and use Photoshop AND I have a new baby.

I have uploaded it to Issue, from there you can flip through it like a newspaper/magazine and even download it there!

If you would like to be SUPER AWESOME FABULOUS you can help support this publication by ordering art prints here.  They are the ads that I created for the newspaper as stickers or art prints.

Ok, I am done my Fantasy world Newspaper  and have begun the editing process, which, honestly, has been a lot of procrastinating for me.  I just want to post it already, but every time I start working on it…. my brain stops working. I akin it to Homers focus. Side note: while looking for this picture I found someone had made an entire post of Homers thoughts, lol. Awesome. maxresdefault

Anyway, here’s the collection of teaser images I have posted here or on my Twitter, and hopefully soon you will be reading the finished product. I think I am going to make it JPG or PDF’s and load it onto Deviant Art for people to read/download. The Newspaper, The Cunning Crow, reports on the hidden magical (fairy-tale characters/legends/beasts/mythological beings, alt-Earths, Planets, etc) city from a location outside of Kamloops, British Columbia.

An ad for Hades book store, Underworld
variant government od canada DONE
Variant is the name of the Fantasy Beings of Canada- This is the Canadian Gov. Logo

I’m going to have a cheat sheet for people so its not too confusing. It is rather hard to explain how things work via a newspaper, but I try really hard.

Anyway, send me productivity vibes!!

Behind the Scenes

Posted on

I seem to be moving at glacier speed while creating this side project, so I thought I would post a couple behind the scenes pictures and explain what it is I am making.

The Cunning Crow is a fan-fic Newspaper I started making, drawing from my favorite books and TV shows and reporting on them as if they were real. I have Gardening With Samwise Gamgee and Tool Care with Thor. Or, I just make up news that I think is cool, like Mountain Trolls causing trouble in B.C.

The Newspaper will be completely free, and just more of a passion project that I hope other nerds will love as much as I do.

sophiesI even made a classifieds section, and here are a couple ads, one promoting a Terraformed planet that Mimics actual places, like Vegas does. The other one is for Sophie’s Millinery, a shout out to Miyazaki.

The entire en-devour is to  be creative, to push the imagination, create a fun world to slip into.

Hopefully I will post more on this soon!!

Happy Creating Everyone!

I don’t just take pictures, I do a lot of digital art, too.  Its typically nature themed, but they are rather different, odd, vintage and colourful.  Most of them have little backstories, or are inspired by a piece of music or podcast, show or just life. (I wrote a post on some of what I listen to here)

snake 3

IMG_20170406_073239_008I made the above artwork while listening to The Message/LifeAfter. It was rainy, gloomy and cold outside, and I did the old check-over-the-shoulder-at-unknown-noise thing a couple of times LOL! Anyway, back to the art. I had watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade a couple days ago, so I got to thinking that I should do something with a cup. NOT The Grail, but still a cup of power, a cup of offerings, libation. Then, the snake, culturally a symbol of birth, rebirth, and creation tales.  I got to really thinking that this was creativity, being born again and again from our own psyche, our own powers, pieces of us.  Some deep shit right there. LOL. I love symbolism.

But, really, most things are created this way, from things we see, hear, and, well, from within, or a Muse. Muse, another recent obsession of mine. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these pieces. And I hope your creativity finds no end, like the never-ending snake, re-making itself again and again.
